On 28 October 2025, Liberal Democrat parliamentarians were joined in Parliament by Dr Jeff Halper – Israeli author, peace activist, and Director of the International Committee Against House Demolitions – for a powerful discussion hosted by Will Forster MP in collaboration with LDFP.

Dr Halper spoke about the urgent need to keep attention on the West Bank, where Israeli settlement expansion and state-backed settler violence continue with impunity. He explained that the current “peace” arrangement risks normalising the occupation rather than ending it, as it fails to provide for Palestinian sovereignty or territorial contiguity, and does nothing to address the ongoing dispossession of Palestinians in the West Bank.

“This isn’t a conflict between two equal sides. It’s the ongoing normalisation of occupation, apartheid, and settler colonialism,” Dr Halper said.

The discussion underscored the need for sustained international pressure, including sanctions and the enforcement of international humanitarian law, to challenge Israel’s ongoing violations and prevent the normalisation of its illegal occupation.
